ST. LOUIS – William Jewell struck first against Maryville University on Friday afternoon to begin a four-game series, but fell 6-2 to the Saints. Jewell sits at 6-18 on the year and 2- 7 in the GLVC.
 
 
HOW IT HAPPENED

• A single from Luke Bies scored Hayden Post in the third inning for the first run of the game, followed one batter later with an RBI double scoring Bronson Ryan.
• Jewell had no more than four batters in each half inning until the top of the seventh down 3-2 when Bies reached third but was unable to get home.
• The Saints plated six runs in the final four innings played for the 6-2 win.

KEY STATS

• Taylor Brenneman went five innings, striking out three while only walking two.
• Hayden Post and Bies each had two-hit games.
• Jewell pitching issued three walks, while the offense drew only two.
