Bearcats Edge Jewell In Mid-Week Matchup

MARYVILLE, Mo. – The William Jewell baseball team lost their first road game of the season Tuesday afternoon, 2-6 against the Bearcats of Northwest Missouri State. Jewell drops to 4-7 after the loss.
 
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • With two men on base in the first inning Braden Blundell doubled to right field that scored Luke Bies. One batter later Mason Jeffers delivered an RBI single scoring Justin George for the 2-0 lead.
  • Northwest rallied back in middle innings where after tying the game in the fifth Mathew Greiner struck out three in a row to end the frame at 2-2.
  • The Bearcats tacked on four runs in the seventh and eighth innings for the 6-2 win.

KEY STATS
  • Nick Taylor took the start on the mound for Jewell, tossing four innings and striking out a pair. Peyton Little received the loss.
  • Bies and Blundell each had two-hit days, each notching a double.

UP NEXT
Jewell will be back at Talley Stadium beginning Friday at five when they open a three game series with Minot State.
