Ten Innings, Eight Strikeouts From Rambo Not Enough In Extra Inning Affair

LIBERTY, Mo. – After teams combined for 18 runs in seven innings yesterday, William Jewell baseball and Minot State combined for three runs in 11 innings in the 2-1 Beaver victory in game two of the series. Jewell is 4-9 after the extra inning loss.
 
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Maddox Meier got the Cardinals rolling in the first inning with a double deep down the left field line, making it to third after a past ball but wouldn't find his way home.
  • In the top of the sixth an RBI triple from Minot State put the Beavers on the board, 1-0.
  • In the eight Jewell tied it at one with an RBI single from Braden Blundell that scored Luke Bies. Minot State scored in the 11th inning and the Cardinals went down in order to give the game two victory to the Beavers.

KEY STATS
  • Charlie Rambo got the start on the bump punching out a season-high eight batters, one shy of tying his career-high, giving up only six hits and just one run in 10 innings of work.
  • Maddox Meier went 3-for-5 with two singles and a double. The leftfielder also swiped two bags.
  • Teams combined for 18 strikeouts, while Jewell stranded seven base runners.
