Tritons Get Best Of Cardinals On Blustery Saturday

LIBERTY, Mo. – William Jewell baseball was swept on Saturday by Missouri-St. Louis by a final of 6-1. The loss gives Jewell a 2-13 GLVC record, while being 6-25 overall on the season.
 
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Tritons scored two runs in the first inning, and increased their lead to five runs by the fifth inning when with two outs Luke Bies walked, followed by a Luke Isaacs single. Maddox Meier beat out a throw from short to load the bases but the Cardinals were unable to drive any runs home.
  • After turning a 1-6-3 double play on a comebacker that pitcher Jack Lemasters knocked down in the top of the ninth, Isaacs singled with two outs that scored Hayden Post who's base knock lead-off the inning but it was not enough as the Cardinals fell 6-1. 

KEY STATS
  • In his first career start for Jewell, Ryan Hunt went five innings, striking out three, and tossing 114 pitches.
  • Isaacs three-hit day marks the first three-plus hit performance since the season opener versus Arkansas – Ft. Smith when he had four.
  • Jewell batters were struck-out 14 times, the most this season.
