Women's Basketball Earns First Win of Season

The William Jewell College women's basketball  scored a decisive victory on day one of the Winstead-Reeves Classic 75-47 victory over Missouri Valley College on Friday night in Maryville, Mo.  Three of Jewell's five starters managed 10+ points in the contest.

Jewell (1-1) got out to a quick start and lead the game 21-6 in the first eight minutes.  breaking the five point mark through the first four minutes. As the time dwindled, Jewell kept the pressure on building on their lead taking a 38-19 lead at half.   

The second half belonged to the Cardinals as Jewell ran away with the contest.  The Cardinals went on a tear, building up a lead as large as 36 and were able to produce the final score of 75-47. 

Junior guard Chelsea Meeks scored 10 points, dished out seven assists and had three steals.  Senior forward Katlyn Wood had 11 points, with three rebounds and one assist. Junior forward  Cassy Nicolay  had 10 points, and added seven rebounds and three assists.  

William Jewell will meet Northwest Missouri State University tomorrow at 6:00 PM.
