The Cardinal women rallied in Las Vegas to down Minot State Saturday afternoon 72-70.  Jessica Wheeler's three-point shot from the right corner with 0.7 seconds remaining provided the winning score for Jewell, who goes to 15-10 on the season.

The Cardinals trailed by as many as 12 in the first half, and by seven at the halftime break.  Minot State shot 53% from the field in the first 20 minutes, compared to Jewell's 35%, but shot no free throws in the half as the Cardinals hit 12 of 14 to stay close.

The shooting percentages reversed completely in the second half, with Jewell going 15-30 in the half (including 4-9 three-pointers) while the Beavers struggled in hitting 33% with no three-point goals.

Still, the game remained close with Jewell managing to scratch out a six point lead with 3:40 remaining, but not able to put the game away.  Minot State rallied to take a 70-69 lead on a layup with 12 seconds remaining, but th Cardinals pushed the ball downcourt without taking a timeout, and Cassie Nicolay spotted Wheeler open in the right corner for the game winning shot.

Minot State took a timeout and set up a play, lobbing the ball to midcourt in hopes of getting off a miracle shot, but the ball was not cleanly handled and no shot was taken.

Jewell got 19 points and four steals from Chelsea Meeks, 18 points and eight rebounds from Nicolay, and 11 points from Holly Switzer.  Katlyn Wood had four assists.
