Jewell started their final weekend of GLVC play in a positive fashion, winning 3-0 and 5-3 in 13 innings to sweep Missouri Science and Technology on Saturday.

Ashley Nation's home run to center field in the bottom of the 13th inning was one of the highlights of the day, as the Cardinals (23-22, 16-14 GLVC) won in dramatic fashion in front of a Senior-Day crowd.

The game-ending home run was not the only highlight, though.

In game one, Jewell was held hitless and scoreless for four innings before getting three hits and two runs in the fifth inning, as Rachel Hayden drove in both runs with a long single.  The Cardinals added an insurance run in the sixth to back the one-hit pitching of Mariah Buckingham, who went the distance, striking out seven, to run her recored to 13-10.

The second game started with S&T (14-35, 11-21) jumping to a 1-0 lead when starting pitcher Amanda Storm walked two and the Cardinals made two errors.  Jewell came back with two runs of their own in the second inning on a sacrifice fly by Erica Scowley and an RBI single by Eileen Greenwood.  Storm did not allow another run until S&T scored a single run in the fifth inning to tie the game at two.

The game remained tied until the eighth inning.  Buckingham, who came in to relieve Storm in the seventh inning, gave up a run in the eighth inning.  Jewell, however, tied it up again in the bottom of the eighth on Hayden's RBI double to right field, scoring Emily Cliine.  The game remained tied until the bottom of the thirteenth inning, when Taylor Brown doubled and Nation uncorked her homerun an out later.

Buckingham pitched 3 2/3 innings of relief, striking out six; Storm re-entered the game to pitch in the 11th inning, and was credited as the winning pitcher to run her record to 6-6.

Jewell will face Drury on Sunday at noon; the games will be streamed live on the William Jewell College Sports Network website beginning at 11:40 a.m.
