The Cardinal women's team battled through nine ties and 13 lead changes against Southwest Baptist University Saturday night in Bolivar, Missouri before dropping a 74-70 decision to the Bearcats.

Jewell (6-3) shot only 34% in the game in breaking a four-game win streak.

Chelsea Meeks and Cassy Nicolay each had 20 points for Jewell, with Nicolay leading the team with eight rebounds and Meeks adding another six.  Hayli Jo Smith had 13 points, hitting three three-pointers in the game.

As a team, the Cardinals shot 34% to SBU's 46%.

Jewell returns to action on January 3 when the Cardinals host Bellarmine University in GLVC play.
