The Jewell women won a key GLVC West matchup with Maryville University, withstanding a strong comeback bid by the Saints on their home floor to prevail 62-59 on Saturday.

A last second shot to potentially tie the game bounced off the left side of the rim to ensure the victory for Jewell (14-9, 8-7 in the GLVC).  

Cassy Nicolay and Chelsea Meeks each had 14 points for the Cardinals; Meeks hit four straight free throws down the stretch to keep the Saints (14-9, 10-5) at bay.

Maryville (14-9, 10-5) suffered just their second home loss this seaon.  The Cardinals swept the regular season matchup between the two teams following an eight point win in Liberty in January.

The Cardinal women end a series of three straight road games at Drury Thursday night before returning to the Mabee Center next Saturday to face Missouri S&T.
