Perko Earns Weekly GLVC Honors

William Jewell College junior Margaret Perko was named the Great Lakes Valley Conference Women's Outdoor Track and Field Athlete of the Week, it was announced by the league office Wednesday.

Perko placed fourth at the Ashley Nally Heptathlon hosted by Northwest Missouri State University last weekend. Her mark of 4,643 points is a new school record and a provisional qualifying mark, and is currently ranked ninth in NCAA Division II. Within the heptathlon, her mark of 33.35 meters (109' 5") in the javelin leads the GLVC this year while her long jump of 5.53 meters (18' 1.75") ranks her second–best in the conference.

The track & field teams are in Maryville, Mo., today participating in the Northwest Missouri State Open.
