The William Jewell track and field teams took to the outdoors for the first time in 2016 as they took part in the Tulsa Duals on Saturday in Tulsa, Okla.
On the women's side
Gretchen Mayes,
Jessica Goldsberry, and
Margaret Perko each posted two top six finishes. These three athletes combined to finish fourth, fifth, and sixth consecutively in the 200 meter run with times of 28.85, 28.87, and 28.99 respectively.Â
Mayes also placed third in the long jump with a mark of 5.61 meters while Goldsberry was also third in the 400 meter run crossing the line in 59.23. Goldsberry's time was less than one second behind two runners from Oklahoma State. Perko finished fifth in the high jump with a 1.50 meter mark.Â
On the men's side Fabio Kammler led the way with two top five finishes. Kammler was third in the 200 meter run with a time of 21.82 while placing fifth in the 100 meter clocking in at 11.12 seconds.Â
Denver Strong also posted his first top five finish this season, placing fifth in the men's steeple chase with a time of 6:56.Â
Up next for the men will be the Pittsburg State Invitational on March 25 while the women will next compete at Emporia State on April 2.Â
