The William Jewell College women's basketball team fell to Missouri S&T University by a score of 71-62 on Thursday evening at the Mabee Center.

After a back-and-forth first half, the Miners took a 38-34 lead into the halftime break. Missouri S&T would come out of the half hot, extending the lead to as much as 11 points. However, the Cardinals would storm back, cutting the Miner lead to four on
Meagan Paul's fourth three of the night with three minutes left. That was as close as the Cardinals would get, as the Miners pulled away in route to a nine point win.

Jewell was plagued by poor shooting in the second half, shooting just 29 percent from the field and 15 percent from three point range in the second half. In the final minutes, the Cardinals missed several three point attempts, thwarting their comeback campaign.

Maddie Nelson led the Cardinal offensive attack, pouring in 14 points on the evening.
Madison Campbell and
Meagan Paul each contributed 12 points in the Cardinal loss.

Raetchel Gray was the leading scorer for the Miners, putting in 15 points in the game. Jay Douvier chipped in 14 points to aid the Miner effort.

With the loss, the Cardinals fall to 7-12 overall and 2-6 in conference play. The Miners improve to 6-9 on the year and 2-6 in GLVC play.

The Cardinals are back in action on Saturday afternoon, as they take on the No. 19 Drury Panthers at 1:00 p.m. in the Mabee Center.
