One of William Jewell softball's newest alumna, Anna Biondo, has been selected No. 25 overall in the America Softball Association's professional draft on June 5. 
 
Biondo is the Cardinals career-leader in wins, appearances, starts, shutouts, and innings pitched and ranks in the top-10 in strikeouts and complete games. 
 
She earned All-GLVC honors in 2017 after putting together a career-best 17-10 mark and 2.38 ERA. For her career she went 48-38, appearing in 106 games with 87 starts in the circle. She totaled 433 strikeouts over 540.1 innings of work. 
 
The ASBA is a women's softball organization founded in 2018 that showcases the best players from across the country and gives women the opportunity to pursue softball on the professional stage.
 
The league will again feature four teams this summer with expansion projected for the 2020 season.
 
ASBA will kick off 2019 on Friday, June 14 at Pat Hicks Field with four teams playing a five-day-a-week schedule throughout the six-week regular season. The ASBA All-Star Game will be held on Saturday, July 13 and the playoffs start on Friday, July 27.
