YOU SHOULD NOTE
HOMECOMING 2019
It is Homecoming Week on the William Jewell campus with a multitude of activities culminating with the football game on Saturday. Jewell won the 2018 homecoming game over Southwest Baptist by a final of 14-10 and will look to make it two in a row. This is the third homecoming match up with Missouri S&T in the last five years with the teams splitting the first two. Jewell was dominant in 40-16 win in 2015 but dropped the 2017 contest 27-17.

TALE OF TWO HALVES
The Cardinals have put together two strong halves over the last two weeks, unfortunately they've come in two different games. Jewell was superb in the opening half against West Texas leading the Buffs at the break before giving up 21 unanswered in the second 30 minutes. The roles were reversed last week at Lindenwood where the Cards came out sluggish in the first half and were dominant in the second, scoring 16 unaswered points and not allowing another Lion score. Jewell will need to put together both halves of the football game moving foward to keep pace with the strong upcoming GLVC schedule that includes S&T, UIndy, and Truman State.

STREAKING
Kicker Dalton Dye has the Cardinals tied for first in the league alongside Indianapolis and Truman after hitting all six point-after-attempts. Dye has now hit 28 PAT in a row, dating back to November 2017. The redshirt junior has missed just two PAT in his career, both coming during his freshman season.

DEFENSIVE LEADER
Redshirt senior Brock Geisz continues to be a monster on the defensive side of the ball as he leads the GLVC and ranks fourth in NCAA-II with 12.7 tackles per game, 1.4 more than P. Chappel of Quincy in second. Geisz has posted double-digit tackles in all three games thus far in 2019 including opening with a career-best 16 against Southwest Baptist. Jack Gordon (5), Antonio Wabanimkee (T8), and Cameron McKasson (T8) give Jewell four players in the top 10 in the league in tackles while Gianni D'Arienzo sits just outside at No. 11.

LIVE AND DYE BY THE LONG BALL
Dalton Dye has connected on 2-of-3 field goal attempts this fall, which leads the GLVC (percentage), and both attempts have come from beyond 40 yards. This is the fourth and fifth 40-plus yard field goals of his career and the third straight, dating back to the 2018 finale. His career-long of 48 yards came in 2018 at McKendree.

LAST TIME OUT
It was again a tale of two halves last Saturday evening as the William Jewell football team traveled to St. Charles, Mo. where they fell 28-16 to Lindenwood in their GLVC opener. The Cardinals got off to a slow start and fell behind 28-0. Dalton Dye hit a 42-yard field goal as time expired in the first half. Jewell scored 13 more in the second and did not allow Lindenwood on the scoreboard again.

Will Schneider once again led the offense with 178 yards passing and 61 rushing while scoring two touchdowns on the ground. Jalik Jaggwe finished with 83 yards on six catches while Brad Dee collected 66 yards on 14 carries. Antonio Wabanimkee and Brock Geisz had 11 tackles to pace the defense. Geisz also posted a fumble recovery (forced by Gianni D'Arienzo) and an interception.

THE SERIES
2019 marks the 13th all-time meeting between Jewell and Missouri S&T with the Miners leading 7-4. The series dates back to 1911 where the teams ended in a 2-2 tie. The Miners and Cardinals met three times over the next 50 years then did not see each other again until Jewell's move to the GLVC in 2011. The Cardinals have won just twice since the jump to NCAA-II in back-to-back years in 2014 and 2015.
