Volleyball Signs Six for 2020

William Jewell head volleyball coach Carolyn Raynes has announced the addition of six student-athletes for the 2020 season.

Jordan Collard
5'8 • Defensive Specialist 
Nixa, Mo. • Nixa High School


A four-year letterwinner from Nixa, Missouri, Collard will join the Cardinals after earning three All-District honors for the Eagles. She was also a two-time All-Conference and All-State honoree. Off the court she was a three-time Academic All-State selection. The daughter of Mark and Carla she plans to major in nursing. She played club ball for the Springfield Juniors 18-1.

"Jordan is an exceptional player and athlete. Every time we get to see her play, she continues to make substantial growth. She is one of the most dynamic players we have seen, and has the ability to play at a high level in many different positions. One of the main things we look forward to about Jordan is that she is an ultimate competitor. She helped lead her team to a State Championship, and knows how to win. Jorey Luebbert
5'11 • Middle Blocker
Bonnots Mill, Mo. • Fatima High School


The all-time leader in single game and season blocks for Fatima High School, Luebbert earned four varsity letters for the Comets. She was named first team All-Conference and All-District for her work and also earned letters in basketball and track and field. In the classroom she earned Academic All-State honors. The daughter of Joseph Luebbert and Anne Luebbert she is plans to pursue a major in biochemistry. She played club ball for H2 Columbia.

Kaci Behrens
5'5 • Defensive Specialist 
Ankeny, Iowa • Ankeny High School


A four-year varsity letterwinner from Ankeny High School, Behrens finished her career with more than 1,200 career digs and led her team to three state tournament appearances. She was a three-time All-Conference selection and earned All-District and honorable mention All-State honors in 2018. Off the court, she was a 2019 Academic All-State honoree and earned four Academic Excellence Awards. The daughter of Jed and Jami Behrens, she plans to major in either biology or psychological science. She played club ball for IPVA.

"Kaci is one of the toughest players we have had in our gym, she shows no fear and a lot of resiliency- which is necessary in the libero position. She has a solid platform and quick feet, giving her the ability to get to a lot of balls on defense and consistently put our setters in a good position. Kaci's on court personality is so much fun to watch- she is constantly getting excited for her teammates while still being a steady force in long rallies." - Carolyn Raynes, head coach


Anna Godfredsen
5'11 • Outside Hitter 
Urbandale, Iowa • Dowling Catholic High School


Godfredsen earned four varsity letters for Dowling Catholic. She picked up two All-Conference honors and is a member of the Presidential Honor Roll as well as the Academic Excellence Honor Roll. She is the daughter of Rob and Jill Godfredsen and played club ball for IPVA. 

"I chose William Jewell because I fell in love the campus, but the coaches were what really drew me in. I like their coaching style and they both remind me of my club coach I had Junior year where I flourished under his counsel." - Anna Godfredsen

"Anna is a very smooth player, with a heavy swing. She does a great job being extremely steady- yet can terminate in different situations at a high level. Her presence on the court is what drew us to her- she is a great teammate, and works hard to always better the ball. We are confident that Anna will come in and thrive in our program and on our campus." - Carolyn Raynes, head coach


Meghan Schneider
5'10 • Setter 
Kansas City, Mo. • Liberty High School


Local product Meghan Schneider will come the The Hill from down the road at Liberty High School where she is the Blue Jay's all-time leader in career assists. During her career she led her team to three straight district championships and quarterfinal appearances including a third place finish in Class 4 as a senior. A three-time All-Conference and All-District selection she also earned two All-State honors and was selected to the MO-KAN All-Star game in her final season. Off the court she is a two-time Academic All-State honoree and member of National Honor Society FBI Youth Leadership Academy and the National Society of High School Scholars. The daughter of Michael and Becky she plans to major in psychological science. She played club ball for MAVS 816.

I wanted to be part of a program that wanted the best for me not only as an athlete, but as a person as well. Once I got on campus I immediately felt at home and knew this was where I was meant to be. Everyone has my best interests in mind and wants me to succeed in all aspects of life." - Meghan Schneider 

"Meghan is a physical setter- she is tall enough to be an offensive threat, and consistent enough to run our tempo of offense. We love her competitive drive, communication, and energy on the court. She comes from a very successful high school program and we have had the joy of getting to see her develop since a young age- getting her into our program is something we have been excited about for a long time." - Carolyn Raynes, head coach 


Katie Paine
5'10 • Outside Hitter 
Chanhassen, Minn. • Chanhassen High School


Paine comes to the Cardinals after a standout career at Chanhassen High School in Minnesota. She led her team in kills, kills per set, digs and digs per set and served as a team captain. A three-year starter, she earned All-Conference honors twice after leading the league with 337 kills for an average of 3.7 per set as a senior and a conference title the previous season. The daughter of Timothy and Sandra Paine, she played club ball for Vital Volleyball Club 18-1s.

I really like the small class sizes and how supportive the staff is towards the students. I also love the coaches' philosophy and how they have the best interest of their players always in mind. I can't wait to get to campus and become a part of the Jewell family." - Katie Paine

"Katie is a very dynamic 6 rotation player. She has the ability to terminate from both pins, and is impressive at reading in defense. She is a super smart player, and has the vision of her opponents as a hitter and as a defender. We are excited to have a player with her volleyball IQ. Even more importantly, she is going to be a wonderful student-athlete at Jewell." - Carolyn Raynes, head coach


Raynes will enter her seventh season at the helm of the Jewell volleyball program and the 2020 schedule will be announced later this spring.
