CARDINAL NOTES
  • William Jewell enters the week after going 0-2 in the opening weekend at the GLVC/GLIAC Crossover. The Cardinals struggled through some tough shooting performances leading to late insurmountable deficits.
  • Libby Arnold put together the best performance of her young career on Sunday, scoring in 22 points, including 12 in the first half. The sophomore hit three triples while pulling down a career-best four rebounds for the second straight game.
  • Jewell shot just 34% from the field over the weekend, but each half was better than the preceding one, ending with a 42% clip in the second half against Michigan Tech.
  • Two freshmen put together double-digit scoring performances in their debut weekend. Rachel Senn put up a team-best 10 points on 4-of-9 from the floor in 16 minutes against Northern Michigan. Kate Hillyer followed with 13 points and eight rebounds against Michigan Tech to go with two assists and two steals.
  • Despite the offensive struggles Jewell were strong defensively, which has become a staple of Jill Slominski teams. The Cardinals finished the opening weekend as the top ranked team in the GLVC and 34th best in Division II, holding opponents to a 21.2% clip from the three-point line and 36.2 from the floor overall, fourth in the GLVC.
  • Jewell had 15 steals in the first two games, with nine of those being grabbed by Bailey Russell (5) and Kate Hillyer (4), putting both players in the top-15 in the GLVC after the first week of the season.
  • Jill Slominski enters her 26th season at William Jewell, the most tenured coach in the department. Her 454 wins rank her tops among active GLVC coaches and 21st in Division II.

ABOUT BAKER
  • Baker enters the week at 3-3 on the season and coming off a win over NAIA No. 15 ranked Lyon College. The Wildcats will take on No. 11 MidAmerica Nazarene on Tuesday prior to traveling to Jewell.
  • As a team, Baker is averaging 67 points and 45.7 rebounds per game, outrebounding opponents by more than seven.
  • Emina Hadzihusejnovic averages a double-double with 10.3 points and 11.1 rebounds per outing to lead the Wildcats. Sara Oca also averages double-figures with 14 points.
  • The Wildcats utilize their size over the long ball, shooting just 29% from three.
  • Justin Rees is now in his fourth season as the head coach of the Wildcats, after a four-year stint as an assistant coach at Valparaiso.

ABOUT LINCOLN (MO)
  • Lincoln University of Missouri enters the week at 1-1 overall after a 23-point win over Arkansas-Monticello.
  • LeYanna McGinnis and Imani Jones lead the offense with 13.5 and 11.5 points respectively while also leading the team with 14 combined rebounds per outing.
  • Lincoln has seen no shortage of offense through two games, averaging 76.5 points while shooting 43% from the floor.
  • The Blue Tigers have seen an influx of transfers to the program over the last two seasons with nine of 15 players having started their careers elsewhere. Four of those transfers followed head coach Andrea Mize to Lincoln from Central Florida College (NJCAA).
