KANSAS CITY, Mo. - The William Jewell baseball team fell 4-3 to Lindenwood on Friday afternoon at Urban Youth Academy. The loss drops the Cardinals to 16-7 on the year, 3-2 in GLVC action.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Anthony Hansen started things off on a high note for the Cardinals sending a line drive home run over the right field wall to put Jewell on top early.
- The Lions put up three unearned runs on the board in the third to take the lead and another in the eighth to hold a 4-2 lead.
- In the ninth, Quincy Aldrich led off with a solo home run followed by a single from Jake Wilcox to put the tying run on base but a double play and groundout ending the game.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- The Cardinals finished with nine hits, led by two each from Drew Reed and Alex Epp, both of which were triples for the latter.
- Jake Sawyer (4-1) suffered his first loss of the year despite not giving up an earned run in seven strong innings.
