LIBERTY, Mo. - The William Jewell softball team will push up the 2023 home opener to Saturday, February 18 due to field construction at Lincoln University not being completed. The Cardinals will follow with a trip to Central Missouri on Tuesday.

CARDINAL NOTES

• Jewell started the season last weekend, going 0-3 at the Alvy Early Classic. The Cardinals averaged 3.6 runs per game, falling by two runs or less in two of the three contests.
• Five different players started the season hot, hitting .400 or better on the opening weekend. Sabrina Olmo led the way at .444 while Payton Totzke and Kenzie Stahl each hit .429 in seven at bats.
• Addie Bell made her presence known right away, starting all three games, hitting .400 with five RBI and her first home run of her career against Southern Arkansas.
• The pitching staff combined for a 6.33 earned run average last week with nine strikeouts over 21 innings of work.
• Dustin Combs is in his 16^th season with the Cardinals, owns more than 400 career wins and is looking for return to the GLVC Tournament for the first time since 2018.
