Jewell Softball Hosts Northern State for Three Games

LIBERTY, Mo. - The William Jewell softball team continues their home stand this weekend, hosting Northern State for a three-game series, including a doubleheader on Sunday afternoon.

CARDINAL NOTES

Jewell is coming off a pair of close losses to Fort Hays State last week, by scores of 2-0 and 4-3. Jewell rallied in the seventh inning of game two but came up just short.
Kenzie Stahl and Sophia Lopez lead the offense for the Cardinals, hitting .333 and .324 respectively. The junior duo also man the left side of the infield most of the time and combine for a field percentage better than .900.
Payton Totzke took over the leadoff role this season and gets on base better than 45% of the time. The senior is hitting .281 and has drawn a team high 10 walks. Her 0.77 walks per game is fourth in the league.
Aliyah Santiago enjoyed another strong outing for Jewell, working 6.1 frames against Fort Hays, allowing just two earned runs and enters the new week with a team best 1.26 ERA, fifth best in the GLVC.
Dustin Combs is in his 16^th season with the Cardinals, owns more than 400 career wins and is looking for return to the GLVC Tournament for the first time since 2018.
