GLVC Women's Basketball Preseason Poll Announced

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - The Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) has announced the 2024-2025 women's basketball preseason poll. William Jewell was picked to finish 15th with Lewis University selected at No. 1. The preseason poll is determined by the league's head coaches, who, per GLVC bylaws, are not permitted to vote for their own team.

The Cardinals return one of the top scorers in the GLVC in junior Ayden Shannon who earned All-GLVC Third Team honors last year after finishing fourth in the league with 17 points per per night and shooting 42% from the field. Kate Hillyer is back for her senior season after averaging 14.1 points and 2.7 rebounds over the final 15 games of last year with a career high 22 points and nine boards against Maryville. Bree Shannon and Caitlin Behling return to help run the offense as both appeared in at least 26 games last season while Ella Bockenstedt will make her collegiate debut after redshirting last year.

Jewell welcomes in a crop of fresh faces this winter with 10 newcomers, including eight freshmen. Among the rookies are Missouri products Gabby Rose (Liberty North), Rylee Thompson (Smithville), Chanelle Anderson (Kansas City), and Asa Fanning (Moberly), Iowa native Kirsten Hauck, along with Morgan Ives (Thornton, Colo.), Paris Opelt (Neilsville, Wis.), and Maja Komaszynska (Gdnask, Poland). The Cardinals will also benefit from the playing experience of two graduate transfers in Karlee Holland and Moriah Prewitt. Holland comes to The Hill after two years at Southwest Baptist where she appeared in 43 games, averaging 9.4 points as a senior ,while Prewitt joins the Cardinals after appearing in 48 games at Northern Illinois.

Jewell opens the season at home on November 8, hosting Avila University at 5:30 p.m.
