Box Score INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - The William Jewell women's basketball team put four players in double figures on Thursday night but fell 93-86 to the University of Indianapolis in a game that featured 13 lead changes and nine ties. The Cardinals drop to 5-19 overall and 3-16 in conference play.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Tied at 14 midway through the first quarter, UIndy went on a quick 5-0 run but two free throws from Bree Shannon made it 19-16 after 10 minutes.
- Trailing by four in the early part of the second period, the Cardinals went on a 12-7 run to go on top but UIndy came right back. The teams traded leads over the final minutes of the half with a free throw giving the Greyhounds a slim 42-40 lead at the intermission.
- Jewell came out of the half with a 8-0 run take their largest lead of the day at 48-42 but UIndy followed with a 10-2 run of their own to go back in front. The Hounds expanded their lead to nine heading into the final frame.
- UIndy grew the advantage to as many as 12 in the fourth quarter but Jewell did not go down without a fight, cutting the deficit to just six after a Bree Shannon three with 21 seconds remaining but could get no closer.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Jewell shot 46% from the floor and were 18-of-24 from the free throw line.
- Emree Zars posted a double-double of 17 points and 14 rebounds to go with five assists.
- Ayden Shannon finished with a team high 25 points while handing out five assists with Kate Hillyer adding a career high 20 points.
- Bree Shannon also tied her season high with 15 points on 3-of-5 from long range.
