Box Score LIBERTY, Mo. - The William Jewell men's lacrosse team gave Lewis University a big challenge on Saturday afternoon before the Flyers, who are tied for the lead in the Great Lakes Valley Conference standings, made a late push to win 14-6. The Cardinals move to 6-7 overall and 0-4 in the GLVC.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Lewis scored the first goal of the day but the Cardinals came right back as Jake Wynecoop scored on a feed from Eric Ramirez to knot things up. The Flyers went on a 4-0 run to retake the lead before Wynecoop added another score to make it 5-2.
- The Flyers took advantage of a player-up opportunity and extended their lead to five. Wynecoop and Hudson Parnell added two goals in the third period to pull the Cardinals within four, 8-4.
- After Kade Barvitz scored to make it 9-5, the Flyers went on a run of four goals in the span of three minutes to open up their largest lead of the day late in the fourth
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Wynecoop led the offensive with three points on six shots on goal while Tanner Garcia handed out assists and grabbed four ground balls.
- After starting the game 0-for-6 in face offs, Jewell won 10 of the final 18, led by six overall from Hunter Mee.
- Fynn Ziebarth finished with a game high 16 saves.
