Bleu Renfrow were named the Great Lakes Valley Conference/Athletic Solutions Defensive and Special Teams Players of the Week, it was announced by the league office Tuesday. Both players helped the Cardinals to their third straight season opening win for the first time since the 1988-90 seasons.
Williams earns his first career Defensive Player of the Week nod after picking up an interception with a 42-yard return and an additional pass breakup in the win over Fort Lewis College. Additionally, the sophomore added four solo tackles with a sack.
In his first collegiate game, Renfrow shined nailing all six of his kicking attempt including a 52-yard field goal, which is tied for the longest in the Cardinals NCAA era and third in the GLVC record book. Additionally, he punted five times for 230 yards with two 50-plus boots.
