The William Jewell football team opens the season at home on Saturday afternoon, hosting Fort Lewis College. The Cardinals are 3-0 all-time against Fort Lewis, including 1-0 at home, although Saturday's match up will mark the first true home meeting. The last time the Skyhawks made the long haul to Missouri was during the 2023 season that was played at nearby Liberty North High School during construction at Greene Stadium. 

Last fall, Jewell posted a 34-14 win in Durango, Colo. as the Cardinals jumped out to 10-point first half lead and never looked back. Bleu Renfrow and Jonny Williams picked up GLVC Player of the Week honors for their performances as the former hit a 52-yard field goal and was 4-for-4 on point after attempts. Meanwhile, Williams had four tackles, including a sack, and grabbed an interception with a 42-yard return.
