Baseball Splits with Harding University on Sunday

The William Jewell Cardinal baseball team split a double header today with Harding University in Searcy, Ark.  The Cards fell 5-1 in game one before rebounding for a 5-4 win in game two.

In game one the Cards were able to tie the game at 1-1 in the top of the fourth thanks to three errors from Harding.  The Bison then responded with three runs of their own in the bottom of the fourth to put the game away. 

Preston Felgate (0-1) took the loss for Jewell and pitched 4 2/3 innings giving up three runs and four hits while striking out three.  JP Bartmess went two for three at the plate to lead the Cardinals offense.

In game two Harding jumped out to a 4-1 lead before Jewell exploded for four runs in the top of the seventh. 

Trevor Bowden (1-0) got the win for the Cardinals in relief of Cody Dowling.  Shortstop David Smith went one for three with two RBI's and second baseman Bryan Rezin went two for two with two RBI's, a run scored and a stolen base.

The Cardinals, 1-3 on the year, will host Minot State for a doubleheader on Friday and Saturday March 3 and 4 and 12:00 p.m.
