Cards Swept By UMSL in GLVC Action

The William Jewell Cardinals were swept in a Great Lakes Valley Conference doubleheader on Saturday  against University of Missouri-St. Louis in St. Louis, Mo.  The Cards fell 4-0 in game one and dropped a 2-0 contest in game two.  Jewell currently stands at 11-19 overall and 7-13 in GLVC play.

In game one, the Cardinals left eight runners on base and were shutout by UMSL's starter Zach Standefer who pitched a complete game giving up eight hits while striking out six. 

Drew Mitrisin (5-1) lost for the first time this spring pitching eight innings giving up 10 hits and four runs while striking out five.   

In game two, the Cards again ran into superior pitching as Brett Wolf was able to shut down the Cardinal offense going the distance and only giving up four hits while striking out three. 

David Collins (2-7) also went the distance giving up five hits and two runs (one earned) while striking out two.

The Cardinals will continue their four game series with UMSL tomorrow with first pitch set for 12:00 p.m.
