The William Jewell College baseball team split a doubleheader with University of Missouri-St. Louis this afternoon in Great Lakes Valley Conference action. The Cards won 1-0 in game one but fell 3-0 in game two.
In game one, the Cardinals broke a scoreless game in the top of the seventh as
Bryan Rezin hit a solo home run to account for the only run of the contest. Jewell's
Preston Felgate (3-2) proved too much for the Triton's on the mound as he pitched a complete game giving up four hits while striking out four.
In game two, UMSL's Nolan Clayton and Kyle Renaud combined on a four hit shutout. Clayton tossed six innings of scoreless baseball while Renaud went the final three frames without allowing a run.
Cody Downing (2-4) pitched 6.1 innings giving up 10 hits, three runs and two walks while striking out two.
The Cardinals (12-20, 8-14 GLVC) will host Rockhurst University on Wednesday, April 17 at 12:00 p.m. at Talley Stadium.
