The William Jewell College baseball team dropped a second straight doubleheader to Missouri S&T in Great Lakes Valley Conference action on Monday in Rolla, Mo. The Cards fell 7-3 in game one before dropping the nightcap 6-1.
In the first game, the Miners jumped out to a 7-1 lead and never looked back. S&T scored four in the second and three in the third which proved to be all they would need.
Preston Felgate (3-4) took the loss and only lasted 1.1 innings. He allowed six hits and four runs before being relieved by
Cody Downing.
Tom Herrera was the lone offensive star for the Cardinals going 3-4 with an RBI and a stolen base.
In game two, the Miners again jumped out on top building a 5-0 lead after six innings.
Dylan Pollock (2-1) took the loss going 2.1 innings allowing three hits and three runs while walking three. J.D. Weyer was the only Cardinal to collect more than one hit as he went 2-3.
The Cardinals, 18-26 and 12-20 in GLVC play, will wrap up the regular season with a four game series with Drury University beginning Friday at 12:00 p.m., at Talley Stadium on the Jewell campus in Liberty, Mo.
