Cards Sweep Quincy in Sunday Doubleheader

The William Jewell Cardinals concluded their four game series with Quincy on Sunday  sweeping the Hawks 6-5 and 8-7 in Great Lakes Valley Conference action. 

In game one, the Cardinals scored a run in the top of the seventh to break a 5-5 tie to win the game 6-5.
Shortstop Coleman Waheed delivered a two-out, RBI single to drive home pinch runner Jesse Gray after Gray stole second base.

David Collins (2-6), tossed a complete game giving up eight hits and five runs (two earned) while striking out five and walking three. 

Vance Gorman and Bryan Rezin each had three hits to lead Jewell.

In game two, the Cards scored three in the first, three in the third and two in the seventh to squeak out the 8-7 win.

Drew Mitrisin moved to 5-0 on the year tossing eight innings giving up 14 hits and seven runs while striking out six.  Ron Johnson earned the save with a perfect ninth inning. 
Rezin collected three more hits and drove in three as well.  Jordan Rice collected two hits and two RBI's in game two.

The Cardinals 11-16, 7-11 in GLVC play will travel to Maryville, Mo., on Wednesday, April 10 to take on Northwest Missouri State University at 1:00 p.m.
