Box Score The William Jewell College Baseball team lost a heartbreaking 4-3 game in ten innings this afternoon at No. 5 St. Mary's in San Antonio, Texas. With the win, the Rattlers were able to take the weekend series two games to one.
Jewell (1-3), again jumped out to an early 1-0 lead as
Hunter Brown's bunt plated home
Coleman Waheed in the top of the first.
In the sixth,
Jordan Rice reached on an error and later scored on
Jesse Gray's ground out to third base.
The Ratter's scored a single run in the bottom of the seventh to cut the lead to 2-1.
In the top of the ninth Jewell added a run as
Luke Lucchetti hit a one out triple and scored on a sacrifice fly from
Coleman Waheed to put the Cards up 3-1 heading the home half of the ninth.
The Rattlers were able to tie the game in the bottom of the ninth thanks to two errors from the Cardinal defense.
The Rattlers then scored on a walk off single in the bottom of the tenth to win the game.
Drew Mitrisin pitched nine innings giving up nine hits, three runs (one earned), while striking out five.
Blaze Carano (0-1) was charged with the loss giving up the winning run in the tenth.
Waheed led Jewell's offense going 2-4with a run scored, a stolen base and an RBI.
