The William Jewell College baseball team was defeated by visiting Missouri Western State University, 23-1, in a Non-Conference contest Wednesday afternoon at Talley Stadium in Liberty, Mo.

Jewell is now 6-12 overall while Missouri Western moves to 13-12 overall. 

Senior first baseman Clarke O'Dowd drove in the Cardinals' lone run in the fifth with a base hit that scored Bryan Porting. 

Porting and Vance Gorman both finished with two hits for the Cards.

Chris Mancha  (0-1) took the loss only lasting a third of an inning giving up three hits and four runs. 

Jewell travels to St. Louis, Mo., on Saturday, March 29 for a Great Lakes Valley Conference four game series with Maryville University.  First pitch is slated for 12:00 p.m.
