The William Jewell baseball team was swept by Sioux Falls in Russellville, Ark., in a doubleheader Saturday afternoon, losing both games by the score of 2-1.

Jewell was able to get a runner to third in the ninth but Sioux Falls was able to hold on for the 2-1 win.Â
David Collins (1-1), pitched a complete game giving up 8 hits and two runs while striking out four.
Derek Fischer (1-0) gave the Cougars a solid 9 innings giving up 8 hits and one run while striking out 8.Â

The score remained tied and went to extra innings where Sioux Falls took the lead in the top of the ninth and held on for the 2-1 win.Â
Preston Felgate (0-2) pitched 8.1 innings giving up 8 hits and two runs while striking out three. Â
The loss drops the Cards to 1-4 on the young season and will continue their series with Sioux Falls Sunday starting at 3:00 p.m.
