Baseball Splits Double Header With Rockhurst

Cards Fall Game One 5-4, Shut Out Hawks 4-0 In Game Two

The William Jewell Cardinal baseball team split a Great Lakes Valley Conference doubleheader against Rockhurst University on Tuesday at Talley Stadium in Liberty, Mo. 

In game one of the double header the Cardinals fell 5-4 to the Hawks.  In the second inning Jewell gave up 5 runs on three hits, Dylan Pollock (0-2) walked two batters and hit one in the second inning.

The Cards scored two runs on two hits in the second as Coleman Waheed hit a single and Hunter Brown doubled.  Another two runs for the Cardinals happened in the eighth on no hits.  The Cardinals gave up eight hits in game one.

Game two of the double header showed the offensive capabilities of the Cardinals with a 4-0 victory over the Hawks.  Scoring four runs on eight hits and two Hawk errors.

Bryan Rezin scored in the third on a single by Vance GormanSam Thomas, Bryan Porting and Sam Morman all scored in the fourth inning on two Cardinal hits and one Hawk error.

Nick Farleigh (1-1) tossed the complete game shutout giving up 8 hits, no runs, and two walks while striking out three.

The Cardinals will play University of Missouri St. Louis on Saturday and Sunday, both games will begin at 12:00 p.m.  The split today puts the Cardinals at 8-16 overall and 6-8 in the GLVC.
