Gold Glove Winner and All-Star Catcher Salvador Perez to throw out first pitch for Cardinals game this Friday

The William Jewell College baseball team will take on Missouri S&T for a Great Lakes Valley Conference four game series beginning on Friday, April 18 at Talley Stadium.

The Cardinals will welcome 2013 Gold Glove winner and American League All-Star catcher of the Kansas City Royals Salvador Perez as he will throw out the game's ceremonial first pitch on Friday at 12:00 p.m.

Perez, a three-year Major League veteran, made his major league debut on August 10, 2011 and had a memorable 2013 campaign for the Royals in which he hit .292 with 13 homeruns and 79 RBI's.  He also threw out 25 of 46 players trying to steal bases in 2013.  He earned his first All-Star appearance and also earned the American League's Gold Glove honor at the catcher position.

Perez, born in Valencia, Venezuela, currently sports a .325 average in 2014 with two RBI's.
