The William Jewell Cardinals took on Missouri S&T in a Great Lakes Valley Conference doubleheader on Friday afternoon at Talley Stadium in Liberty, Mo.   The Miners took game one 4-0 and the Cardinals took the nightcap 2-1 in 10 innings.

In game one, S&T hurler Kyle Robertson kept the Cardinals off stride all game long tossing a complete game shutout only giving up five hits and two walks while striking out four.

David Collins (3-5) took the loss for Jewell as he threw 5.1 innings giving up 13 hits, four runs and three walks while striking out two. 

Clark O'Dowd collected two of the Cardinals' five hits.

In game two, The Miners jumped out to 1-0 lead in the top of the first only to see Jewell tie things up with a single run in the bottom of the second off an RBI single from Coleman Waheed. 

The score would remain tied 1-1 until the bottom of tenth Hunter Brown singled home Bryan Porting with one out for the 2-1 walk off win. 

Blaze Carano, 2-1 earned the win pitching three innings in relief of Billy Kirkpatrick.  Carano allowed two hits and one walk while striking out two. 

Porting, O'Dowd and Waheed each finished with two hits for the Cardinals. 

Jewell, 13-24 overall and 11-15 in the GLVC will continue their series with Missouri S&T tomorrow at Talley Stadium.  First pitch is scheduled for 12:00 p.m.
