Cards Dominate Rangers 11-1

Box Score
The William Jewell Cardinals dominated the Rangers of Wisconsin-Parkside, 11-1, on Friday afternoon at Talley Stadium in Liberty, Mo.  The Cardinals improve to 11-6 overall while Parkside falls to 3-6.

Jewell wasted no time getting on the board in the bottom of the first.  Drew Standifer singled and advanced to second on an error and Garrett McKinzie knocked him home for his team leading 16th RBI of the year.   Sloppy defense from Parkside allowed the Cardinals to score three more times in the inning to give Jewell a commanding 4-0 lead.

The Rangers were able to get a run off Jewell starter Austin Kretchmar (3-1) in the top of the second but Kretchmar was on his game today and was able to shut down Parkside from there.

Jewell put together five hits and five runs in the bottom of the sixth and a single run in the eighth to put an exclamation point on the game.

Kretchmar tossed 8 solid innings giving up only four hits, and one run while striking out three.

McKinzie finished the afternoon 3-5 with three RBI's and three runs scored.  He is hitting .403 on the year with a team high 18 RBI's.  Zach Tyson also had a big day at the plate for Jewell going 3-4 with an RBI and two runs scored.

The Cardinals will continue with game two of the three game set with Parkside tomorrow at Talley Stadium.  First pitch is set for 1:00 p.m.
