Cameron University's Reid Garrett tossed a complete game allowing one run on five hits as the Aggies defeated William Jewell 5-1 in the Cardinals' season opener Friday afternoon.

Cameron (8-2) struck first in the bottom of the first when they plated home four runs. 

Jewell's single run came in the top of the fifth as Matt Carpenter's sacrifice fly scored Travis Foerschler. 

Brendan Beatty (0-1) was charged with the loss after pitching a solid six and 2/3 for the Cardinals, allowing four runs on seven hits and striking out four.

Jewell will look for its first win of the season tomorrow as the Cardinals continue their three-game series at Cameron with a nine inning game slated for 1:00 p.m.
