Junior pitcher Brendan Beatty was named the Great Lakes Valley Conference Pitcher of the Week the league announced Monday. 

The Hallsville, Mo., native helped lead the Cardinals to a 3-1 series win over Rockhurst this past weekend.  In his start on Sunday, he hurled 9.0 innings, allowing six hits and no walks with eight strikeouts in a complete game shutout against the Hawks.  This is Beatty's first career Player of the Week award from the GLVC.  The last William Jewell pitcher to win Pitcher of the Week honors was Austin Kretchmar in April of 2016.  

The Cardinals 9-11 overall return to action tomorrow as they travel to Wayne, Neb., for a matchup against Wayne State at 2:00 p.m.
