Box Score 2 The William Jewell College baseball team dropped both ends of a Great Lakes Valley Conference doubleheader against Drury University Saturday afternoon, falling 11-5 and 5-3.
The Panthers (22-8 overall, 8-2 GLVC) pounded out 9 hits in the game one win over Jewell (13-14 overall, 6-4 GLVC) Saturday.
Drury scored two runs in the top of the first inning to take a 2-0 lead. Jewell answered with two runs in the second to tie the game before the Panthers plated home two more in the top of the third.Â
Dylan Christie's two-run homerun tied the game at 4-4 in the third before Drury took control. The Panthers responded scoring a run in the fourth, four in the fifth and two in the sixth to complete the win.
Jewell was limited to seven hits by Drury's Ryan Colombo (7-0) who struck out three and walked four.
Vijay Patel took the loss for Jewell to dip to 2-2 on the season.
In game two, Drury jumped out to a 5-0 lead before the Cardinals scored single runs in the fourth, fifth and seventh innings. Jewell had two runners on base before the Panthers closed the game out in the bottom of the seventh.Â

Dalton Gulick took the loss to fall to 0-1 on the year.
The Cardinals will wrap up their four game series with Drury on Sunday. First-pitch is set for 12:00 p.m.
