Five individuals and three teams will be inducted into the William Jewell College Athletic Hall of Fame on Saturday, October 6, 2018. The induction ceremony is part of the annual Homecoming activities held on the William Jewell campus. Honorees will be recognized at halftime of the Cardinal football game vs. Southwest Baptist that will kick off at 1:00 p.m. Official induction ceremonies will take place at 6:30 p.m. at the Yates Gill College Union. This event recognizes outstanding achievement by William Jewell alumni and/or faculty in the areas of athletic achievement, coaching, or other noteworthy accomplishments in athletic-related areas during the individual's time at the College.

Ed Elliott '60 - Football/Wrestling
Elliott earned ten varsity letters a student-athlete at William Jewell serving as the captain of the wrestling and football teams. As the only signal caller in Norris Patterson's 18 years as coach to call his own plays on both offense and defense he was named first team All-Missouri College Athletic Union as a senior. In addition he was the recipient of the Cecil Martin Award for Male Athlete of the Year in 1960.
Bob Hatcher '65 - Cross Country/Track & Field
One of the best distance runners in his time, Hatcher held records in the mile, two mile, two mile relay, and distance medley relay, in addition to several course records in cross country, at the time of his graduation from Jewell. In total he earned eight varsity letters and was a three-time team captain in cross country and once in track and field. He was a member of six Missouri College Athletic Union championship teams, three in each sport, and as an individual placed 27th at the NAIA Cross Country National Championships twice (1961, 1963).
Drew Mathews '06 - Men's Basketball
A four-year letterwinner, Mathews was the 2006 Heart of America Athletic Conference Player of the Year and a NAIA-II first team All-American after averaging nearly 19 points and nine rebounds per game. During his career he was also a two-time first team All-HAAC selection, two-time HAAC Scholar Athlete, NAIA Region V Academic All-Region, two-time NAIA Academic All-America, and recipient of the NAIA Champions of Character Award. He was a member of two conference championship teams and led the Cardinals to four NAIA national tournament appearances.
Mark Brackman '07 - Baseball
Brackman won four letters for the Cardinal baseball program, winning two Heart of America Athletic Conference Championships during his career. As a senior he earned first team All-HAAC honors after receiving second team nods the previous two seasons. In his final year he was also selected the HAAC Pitcher of the Year, first team All-Region, Region Pitcher of the Year, and first team NAIA All-America. In addition, he fired a no hitter against Central Methodist as a senior in 2007.
Mike Stockton - Baseball Coach
Stockton is currently in his 17th season at the helm of the Jewell baseball program and holds an overall record of 527-341, not including the 2018 season, making him the second all-time winningest coach in program history. Through 16 seasons, he has led the Cardinals to five regular season conference championships, five tournament titles, and eight Region Tournament appearances. He also led Jewell to a trip to the NAIA World Series in 2004 and the NCAA-II regional in 2015, becoming the first team in school history to make the national tournament since the move to Division II. He has earned ten Coach of the Year honors and was inducted into the Ottawa University Hall of Fame in the fall of 2017 for his accomplishments as a player.
1961 Men's Cross Country Team
Mentored by legendary Jewell coach Darrel Gourley, the Cardinals went 8-0 in dual meets and were the 1961 Missouri College Athletic Union Champions. As a team they finished fifth at the NAIA Cross Country National Championships. Team members include: Don Burke, Ron Colliver, Ron Hamilton, Jim Harmon, Bob Hatcher, Larry Heaps (captain), John Jurco, Gary Lester, Don Smith, Dave Sullivan, Stan White, and student assistant coach Dick Gabbert.
1963 Men's Cross Country Team
Another one of Gourley's championship teams, Jewell took home the MCAU title and went 9-3 in dual meets in 1963. At the NAIA Cross Country National Championships the Cardinals finished in tenth place. Team members include: Ashby Cooper, Jim Harmon, Allen Harris, Bob Hatcher (captain),
Larry Holley, Mike Nichols, and Bill Stinson.
2003 Women's Basketball Team

Larry Williams and J.D. Gravina, the Cards won a school record 27 games in 2003. They were crowned the Heart of America Athletic Conference Champions and reached the second round of the NAIA National Championship Tournament in Sioux City, Iowa. Team members include: Britini Cone, Casey Courtney, Ashley Fann, Jessica Heath, Katie Helwig, Erin Jenkins, Jamie Johnson, Kim Lichtenauer, Stacy McAlexander, Megan Peterson, Dee Rutledge, Heidi Strobel, Morgan Williams, and Lauren Wright.
