Tarleton took Jewell out of what they wanted to do which was run the football. This was the first time since October 5 that the Cardinals did not score a rushing touchdown and the first time all season that Jewell has been kept out of the end zone altogether.Â

The Cardinals have faced the nation's toughest schedule this season when comparing cumulative opposition winning percentage. Jewell has taken on at the time No. 11 UIndy, No. 16 Grand Valley, No. 3 Tarleton in addition to now No. 25 Truman as well West Texas who has received votes in the national polls and Lindenwood who has defeated two ranked opponents this fall. 2019 opponents have a winning percentage of .632. Wayne State (MI), Millersville, Shippensburg, and Texas A&M-Commerce follow at 2-5 in strength of schedule.Â

Dalton Dye continues to keep the Cardinals tied for first in the league alongside Indianapolis and Truman after hitting all 16 point-after-attempts this season. Dye has now hit 39 PAT in a row, dating back to November 2017. The redshirt junior has missed just two in his career, both coming during his freshman season. The NCAA record for consecutive PAT by kicking is 73 set by Luis Berlanga (Northwest Missouri State) in 2004 and later tied by Tom Schneider (North Alabama) in 2008.Â

LAST TIME OUT
The William Jewell football team closed out their seven-game home schedule on Saturday afternoon with a loss to No. 3 ranked Tarleton State University by a final of 58-3. The Cardinals drop to 1-9 on the season.Â

Tarleton jumped on the board early with two touchdowns in the opening quarter.
Dalton Dye put Jewell on the board just after the start of the second frame as he nailed a 42-yard field goal. The Texans closed the game on a 44-0 run, scoring a game-high 20 in the third quarter.

Nick Fisher led the offense with 82 yards on four receptions while
Brad Dee had 32 yards rushing.
Will Schneider finished the day with 151 yards passing on 12-of-32 completions.
Zac Bayless was tops on the defense with 11 tackles followed by
Brock Geisz with nine.
Evan Sanders also picked up his first career interception in the third quarter.
