2020 Football Schedule Released

The 2020 William Jewell football schedule has been released. All games are subject to change.

FULL SCHEDULE

The Cardinals will open the season at home for the third straight year as they host Colorado Mesa University on September 5. Out of the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference, Colorado Mesa is coming off a 6-5 campaign a year ago and will be under the direction of new head coach Tremaine Jackson. This will be the first meeting between the Cardinals and Mavericks.

In week two Jewell will head to Spearfish, South Dakota where they will face off with another new opponent, also out of the RMAC, Black Hills State. The Yellowjackets will also be under the leadership of a new head coach as BHSU graduate Josh Breske took over in December. Black Hills State is coming off a 3-8 season with wins over Fort Lewis, South Dakota Mines, and Azusa Pacific.

The Cardinals will return to familiar faces in weeks three and four as they will host Truman on September 19 followed by a trip to Quincy the following week. Both these contests will be played as non-conference games. Great Lakes Valley Conference play will begin in week five as Jewell will travel to Lebanon, Ill. for a match up with McKendree University who went 5-6 last season and will be in their eighth year under Mike Babcock.

Homecoming will take place on October 10 as Jewell will host in-state rival Southwest Baptist. The Cardinals defeated the Bearcats 29-9 in the 2019 opener but dropped the conference contest later in the season. Kickoff for the annual homecoming game is set for 5 p.m.

The Cardinals will hit the road for two weeks in mid-October as they travel to Missouri S&T and Truman before returning home to face the reigning GLVC Co-Champion Lindenwood on October 31. The other other co-champion awaits the Cardinals in week 10 as they head to Indianapolis. Jewell will wrap up the 2020 season at home with Senior Day set for November 14 opposite Quincy.

The Cardinals will be under the direction of first year head coach Mike McGlinchey in 2020 and return three All-GLVC performers in quarterback Will Schneider, offensive lineman Zach White and receiver Jalik Jaggwe
