LIVE STATS 📊
• Saturday vs. Missouri S&T

SERIES INFORMATION
  • The Cardinals and Miners have played many times over the years, including 16 meetings in Jewell's NCAA era. The Cardinals have won nine of those meetings and five straight, including a 73-62 win back in December. Kiara Bradley was dominant in that win with a double-double of 30 points and 12 rebounds.

CARDINAL NOTES
  • Sydney Offield swiped six steals in the first meeting between the Cardinals and Miners as Jewell totaled 14 takeaways. Offield is one of three Cardinals, joining Bradley and Ainsley Tolson, in the top-75 nationally in total steals. As a team, Jewell is fourth in Division II with 88 swipes and 43rd with 9.8 per night.
  • Also in the previous meeting, Offield narrowly missed a triple-double, without points, as she finished with nine rebounds, a career-high nine assists and six steals. The last triple-double by a Cardinal was done by now-assistant coach Maddie Nelson against Graceland in January 2017.
  • Bradley and Tolson have made a potent 1-2 punch this season as both players rank in the top-75 in Division II in nine different categories, including free throw percentage, total assists and steals and minutes played, among others. While Bradley continues to the picture of consistency, hovering around 20 points and 10 rebounds per outing, Tolson has shined as of late. The sophomore has upped her scoring average to more than 12 points per game after pouring in a career-high 20 in two of the last three contests. Additionally, she continues to dish the ball out, with a team-leading 3.7 assists per night which is 10th in the GLVC.
  • Jewell continues to be a tough defensive team, picking up nearly 10 steals per game, but have struggled offensively through the first nine contests. The Cardinals shot 39.7% from the field against Southwest Baptist, which is the second-highest mark this season, with the highest coming in the first meeting with the Bearcats (41.5%). On the season, Jewell is connecting on 37.5% of shots and 28% from three which are both 13th in the league. Bradley and Annemarie Boeh lead the team with 47.6% and 46.4% clips respectively. Boeh is far and away the top three-point shooter this season at 44%.
  • Jewell rotates a lot of players through the lineup on any given night with 11 different Cardinals averaging at least 10 minutes per game. This is the highest is the GLVC with all other league teams averaging just under nine players on a regular basis. Every active player on the Cardinal roster averages at least five minutes per game and has played in six of the nine contests.
  • Saturday's battle will feature the most veteran coach in the GLVC in Jewell's Jill Slominski, now in her 25th season, and the newest coach in S&T's Kira Carter who took over the Miners on July 8, 2020. Slominski's 445 wins is 23rd among active Division II coaches and tops in the league as Southern Indiana's Rick Stein is in second with 383 victories.
  • Jewell will be one of the deepest teams in the GLVC this season with seven seniors, including three redshirt seniors, to go along with four other players who appeared in at least 20 games last year. The Cardinals graduated four, but only one of those players saw action in 10 games, with the rest out due to injury.

  • Things center around 6'3 junior Alex Kerr who averages a double-double with 15.4 points and 11.2 rebounds, all while leading the nation with 25 blocked shots. Her five double-doubles are tied with Jewell's Kiara Bradley for second nationally.
  • Laura Rodriguez is the top scorer for the Miners with 15.9 points per outing, including 20 in the previous meeting against Jewell. Meanwhile, Kristen Keys and Marta Durk also put in double-figures on a regular basis with 10.9 and 10.8 respectively.
