LIVE STATS 📊
Wednesday vs. Truman

SERIES INFORMATION
  • Truman leads the NCAA-era series, 11-4 and won both meetings last season. In the most recent matchup, Lea Finn came off the bench to score 14 points while Sydney Offield pulled down 14 rebounds. The last Cardinal win was an 86-72 victory in February 2019.
  • Jewell won the first meeting with Southwest Baptist back on December 18 by a final of 63-55 but trail the series 3-2. The Bearcats held a lead late in the fourth quarter but Jewell used a 15-5 run over the final four minutes to take the win. Kiara Bradley posted a double-double of 24 points and 12 rebounds to go along with a career-best seven steals.

CARDINAL NOTES
  • After closing 2020 on a two game winning streak, the Cardinals are coming off a tough 86-58 loss to Missouri-St. Louis on Sunday. Jewell fell into a hole in the opening quarter, 27-12, and could not recover. Ainsley Tolson scored a career-high 20 points in the loss.
  • Senior Kiara Bradley is closing in on her 1,000th career point, in just two-plus seasons for the Cardinals. The Pella, Iowa native needs just 15 points to surpass the 1,000 mark for her career and become just the second women's player to do so while playing entirely in the NCAA era, joining now-assistant coach Maddie Nelson. Bradley, who spent her freshman year at Sioux Falls, will also become the fastest women's player to reach this mark, surpassing Nelson, who joined the club in 98 games.
  • The GLVC is one of the top conferences in the nation in assists as Jewell currently ranks 20th in Division II with 88 assists but that total is good for only 10th in the league, meaning that half of the top 20 teams in the country in assists are GLVC teams, led by Lindenwood's 120.
  • The Jewell defense has been very good at forcing turnovers and steals this season as the Cardinals are second in Division II, to only to league foe Drury, with 72 steals. Jewell has grabbed double digit steals in four of seven games, including a season-high 16 against Southwest Baptist.
  • Redshirt senior Annemarie Boeh shined in the second half on Sunday, hitting 3-of-4 three point field goal attempts for 12 points. The fifth year player has battled injury throughout her career and posted double digits for the first time since December 2016 when she scored 17 at Central Missouri.
  • Bradley and Tolson has been as solid as they come from the foul line this year, as the duo rank third and fourth in the GLVC respectively, with a free throw percentage of 88.5 and 88.0%. As a team, the Cardinals are seventh in the league with a 72.7% clip.
  • Bradley has taken over the national lead in two different categories, including double-doubles (tied) with four and field goals made with 56. The senior is also third in total steals with 20.
  • Bradley has already twice been selected as a part of the NCAA-II All-Stats team, a weekly recognition of the top-five statistical performers from the Division II beat writers. With the NCAA-II dead week occuring last week the honor this time was presented to the top statistical performers from the first half of the season and Bradley once again made the list, primarily for her four double-doubles, which is tied for the national lead.
  • Jewell will be one of the deepest teams in the GLVC this season with seven seniors, including three redshirt seniors, to go along with four other players who appeared in at least 20 games last year. The Cardinals graduated four, but only one of those players saw action in 10 games, with the rest out due to injury.
  • Head coach Jill Slominski is entering season No. 25 and is the most veteran coach in the GLVC. Slominski owns 442 wins and her 2005 team owns the program record for wins in a season with 28.

ABOUT TRUMAN
  • Truman is one of the stronger teams in the GLVC, and are led by the reigning GLVC Freshman of the Year, Hannah Belanger and her 19.8 points per night. The sophomore is in the top-10 in both three point field goal attempts and makes.
  • Katie Jaseckas is a two-time All-GLVC performer for the Bulldogs and puts in 16.2 points and 7.5 rebounds per night while Ellie Weltha adds a team leading 11.8 boards which is tenth in Division II.
  • The Bulldogs enter the week as one of the best shooting teams, not only in the GLVC but nationally, as their 49.1% field goal percentage leads the league and ranks fourth in the country.
  • The offense is run by senior Tiffany Davenport, who enters the game Wednesday dishing out a nation-leading 45 assists on the season for an average of 7.5 per game.
  • Truman is led by second year head man Theo Dean who had the interim tag removed midway through last season.

ABOUT SOUTHWEST BAPTIST
  • This will be the second meeting between the Bearcats and Cardinals this season, with Jewell taking the first by a final of 63-55. Three players were in double figures for the Bearcats in that game, led by Mary Rose Foster's 14.
  • Overall, SBU is 14th in the GLVC, averaging just over 61 points per game while allowing nearly 78.
  • Junior transfer Brodi Byrd has added a lift from the outside with her conference leading 47.6 three point field goal percentage while putting in 6.0 points per night.
  • Kyleigh Vaught is a returning All-GLVC Third Team performer and is leading the Bearcats with 15.0 points per outing to go along with 2.4 assists and 1.8 steals which is 12th in the GLVC.
  • The Bearcats don't get to the line often, just 88 total attempts which is 14th in the conference, but when they do they make the most of it as they are leading the league with a team free throw percentage of 79.5.
