CARDINAL NOTES
- Jewell continues to lead the GLVC and is up to fifth nationally with just 4.00 penalties per game and 40 total. The Cardinals average just 38.60 penalty yards per game, sixth best in Division II.
- On the ground, Jewell is led by a slew of youngsters in Livingston Benoit, Jordan Clay and Tabren Yates. The trio has combined for 645 total yards and three touchdowns, accounting for an average of 96.12 rushing yards per game. Despite the youth, the Cardinals are third best in the GLVC at holding onto the football with just seven lost fumbles, two behind conference-leader Truman.
- In the air, Jalik Jaggwe is up to 40th nationally with 5.4 receptions per game, fourth most in the league. The fifth-year senior is averaging 61.4 yards per game entering the final week of his collegiate career.
- Bart Harris has seen more consistency over the last few weeks due to an injury to Anthony Pritzel and the redshirt sophomore has improved his completion percentage to nearly 46% with four touchdowns.
- Brady Monks enters his final week in a Jewell uniform sitting on 3,202 career punting yards, third best in the NCAA era. This season, he owns 2,484 yards, fifth-most all-time in a single season while his 37.64 yards per punt average in 2021 is currently 12th in program history.
- Josh Click enters the final week of his freshman campaign ranked fourth in the GLVC with a field goal percentage of better than 54%. The rookie has hit five field goals longer than 40 yards, including a 48-yarder against Ohio Dominican, which is tied for third longest by a Cardinal in the NCAA era.
- Carson Anderson continues to lead the defense as Jewell enters week 11. The junior boasts a team-best 61 tackles on the season, including 5.5 for loss, one sack, one interception and forced fumble while breaking up four passes.
- Evan Sanders enters his final week in a Jewell uniform with nine defended passes which sits just outside the top-15 in program history in a single season. The redshirt junior currently holds 13 to his career credit, tied for tenth in the NCAA era.
- Kobe Oldfield posted 10 tackles last week at Indianapolis, tied for the most by a Cardinal this season and was the first double-digit game for any player since week two. The senior is up to third on the team with 46 total tackles to go with six defended passes and one interception.
- The Cardinals will honor 16 seniors prior to kick off on Saturday. On the offensive side, Jewell will say farewell to quarterbacks Anthony Pritzel and Will Schneider, receivers Jalik Jaggwe and Ishmial Mitchell, center Chase Bollinger, and linemen Danny Presler and Zach White, along with punter Brady Monks. On the other side, defensive backs Gianni D'Arienzo, Mario Magana, Jr., Kobe Oldfield and Evan Sanders, linemen Jorge Diaz, Hunter O'Connor and Jarrett Skaggs, along with linebacker Ja'Carri Lewis will play in their final game as a Cardinal.
ABOUT QUINCY
- Quincy enters the final week of the season at 3-7 on the year, 1-5 in the GLVC, and having dropped their last five.
- The Hawks like to throw the ball, ranking third in the GLVC with more than 262 yards through the air each week, while allowing nearly 316. Quarterback Tionne Harris has surpassed 2,200 yards for the season and tossed 24 touchdowns, second best in the GLVC and 16th in Division II.
- The primary targets have been AJ Harding and Eugene Witherspoon who have combined for 1,420 receiving yards and 22 touchdowns.
- Defensively, Peyten Chappel is one of the top tacklers in Division II with an average of more than 10 per game, including 6.5 solos per outing.
- On the ground Tremayne Lee has eight rushing touchdowns as he and Taylor Temple have combined for more than 1,200 yards running.
- Gary Bass wraps up his fifth season as head coach of the Hawks, and his 11th overall on the staff.
