CARDINAL NOTES
- Jewell is coming off a 6-1 non-conference win over Northwest Missouri State on Tuesday afternoon. In the win, starter Alex Schneider went six innings, striking out seven, while Cole Conner and Nick Modrcin combined to go 7-for-7 with four RBI.
- The Cardinals are one of only five league teams hitting above .300 with a .308 team average. Conner has taken over the team lead with a .373 clip with 25 hits, including three doubles. As a team, Jewell is fourth in the GLVC with 247 hits and second with 63 doubles.
- Jade Smoot has been one of the top producers for Jewell this spring, hitting .357 with a team-high 10 doubles, 22 RBI and 24 runs.
- Jake Wilcox has brought speed to the Cardinal lineup, as the newcomer is tied for fourth in the GLVC with 12 stolen bases, while legging out three triples. His 12 stolen bags are the most by a Cardinal since Christian Chalabi's 17 in 2018.
- Jake MacDonald boasts a team-best ERA of 2.08 over seven appearances and 13 innings. The junior picked up his first save of the season over the weekend against Truman.
- Among starters, Shane Cavallo sits at 2-1 on the season with a 2.48 ERA with 33 strikeouts over a team-high 40 innings.
ABOUT QUINCY
- The always strong Quincy Hawks enter the week at 17-6 and in second place in the Green Division, behind only Illinois Springfield, and are receiving votes in the national polls.
- Dayson Croes leads the offense with a .484 batting average, which is tops in the GLVC. The senior has a team-high 44 hits, 12 doubles and 35 RBI.
- As a team, the Hawks hit .341, and are second in the GLVC in eight offensive categories.
- On the mound, Riley Martin is 5-1 with a 4.14 ERA and a conference-leading 66 strikeouts. As a staff, Quincy has a 6.08 ERA over 189.1 innings.
- Josh Rabe is in his 11th season at the helm, leading the Hawks to six appearances in the NCAA Tournament during that time. This will be his final season as he has been named the Quincy University Athletic Director, effective June 1.
