Samantha Williams Tabbed as Assistant Volleyball Coach

LIBERTY, Mo. – William Jewell head volleyball coach Carolyn Raynes has announced that Samantha Williams has been added to the Cardinal staff, effective immediately.

"I am thrilled to have Coach Williams join our staff, she comes from a great career both as a collegiate and professional player and a head high school coach. I know she will bring knowledge from both experiences and be a huge asset to us continuing to create success," said Raynes. "Samantha is passionate about helping young women in their journey, both on and off the court. She's very connected in the area and will be a resource in recruiting the strong players that are in the Kansas City Metro."

Williams comes to Jewell from Park Hill South High School where she served as the head volleyball coach for the Trojans since 2015. During that time, she led the program to five conference championships in six seasons, along with mentoring eight All-State players. She is also heavily active at the club level around the metro.

As a player herself for Pittsburg State University, Williams earned AVCA All-America honors in each of her final two seasons. The former four-time All-MIAA selection and 2005 Freshman of the Year, finished her collegiate career as the all-time kills leader at Pitt State with 1,825 over four seasons. She also was second in attacks and sets played and ranked in the top-10 in hitting percentage, digs and blocks while becoming only the fourth player in school history to record more than 1,000 kills and 1,000 digs in her career. Following her time at Pittsburg State, she inked a professional contract with Lindsberg Volleyball in the Swedish Volleyball Professional League, in which she played for three seasons.

"I'm grateful for the opportunity to make a positive impact on and off the court with Jewell. The Northland is a special place with lots of great people," said Williams.

A native of Blue Springs, Missouri, she earned her undergraduate degree in 2009 from Pittsburg State followed by a master's from Arizona State University in 2019. In addition to her work on the court, she serves on the Director of Student Services for MaranathaEd, an ACT preparation organization.
