LIBERTY, Mo. - The William Jewell football team is on the road this week as they head east to Kentucky Wesleyan of the Great Midwest Athletic Conference for the second of two GLVC-GMAC matchups and the final non-conference game of the season.

CARDINAL NOTES
- The Cardinals are coming off a 35-25 setback to Ohio Dominican last Saturday. Despite the loss, the Cardinals saw several good things, including a season high in total offensive yards.
- Tabren Yates started strong in week one with 73 rushing yards at Colorado Mesa before missing week two. Last Saturday, he picked up where he left off with a season-best and team high 79 yards on the ground. The true freshman is averaging 5.1 yards per carry and 76.0 yards per game. His 152 total yards enters the week ranked eighth in the GLVC.
- Grant Latina and Jalik Jaggwe enter the week at eighth and ninth in the GLVC, respectively, with 50.3 and 49.3 receiving yards per game. Latina posted 107 yards last week, the first 100-plus yard game of his career, with one touchdown. The redshirt sophomore is one of seven players in the GLVC to have recorded a game with 100-plus receiving yards.
- Anthony Pritzel is slated to be the starter again this week after going 26-for-49 with 300 yards and two scores. Pritzel left the Ohio Dominican game late with an minor injury, giving way to Bart Harris who completed 2-of-5 passes for 15 yards. Pritzel's 49 attempts and 61 offensive plays are the most by any player in the GLVC this season.
- The offense found some rhythm last week, allowing for some relief for Brady Monks. The redshirt junior, punted 19 times for 724 yards in the first two games combined but only had to work six punts last week. Monks is up to second in the GLVC with an average of 38.6 yards per punt while his 65 yard punt at Colorado Mesa in week one is the longest by any conference player this season.
- Josh Click hit his second field goal in as many tries last week, this time from 48 yards, just two shy of the program's NCAA-era record. Brandon Womack, hit a 52-yard field goal against Southwest Baptist in October 2015 to break the GLVC record. Click's 48-yarder is the second longest in the conference this year.
- The Cardinal defense shined in the second half against Ohio Dominican, not allowing a point and just 81 yards of offense. After allowing touchdowns on the Panthers' first four possessions, Jewell forced ODU into five punts and a turnover on downs.
- Jewell held the Panthers to 152 rushing yards on the day, the lowest allowed to an opponent this season.
- The Cardinals posted five pass breakups on Saturday, led by two from Evan Sanders, and have totaled 13 on the season. The redshirt junior Sanders enters the week tied for third in the GLVC and 41st nationally with 1.3 defended passes per game.
- Jewell has been the most disciplined team in the GLVC thus far, ranking first in the league and 19th in Division II with only 11 penalties on the year, an average of 3.67 per game, which is ninth best in the nation.
- The Cardinals enter the week third in the GLVC with an opponent third down conversion rate of just 33%, allowing just 23-of-60 attempts.
- Jewell is led in tackles by Kian Betancourt and his 6.7 tackles per game and 21 total. Taveris Albury is up to 19 total, as is Carson Anderson.
- Cody McKimens has 2.5 tackles for loss, for a total of seven yards, through three games which is tied for fourth in the GLVC.
- The Cardinals have never lost to Kentucky Wesleyan, defeating the Panthers in three straight seasons from 2011-2013, when KWC was a member of the GLVC. Most recently, Jewell won 37-17 on the road in November 2013, jumping out to a 21-0 lead at the half and holding on down the stretch as the Cardinals rushed for more than 220 yards.
ABOUT KENTUCKY WESLEYAN
- Kentucky Wesleyan enters the week 1-2 on the season and coming off a 56-34 loss to Lindenwood last week.
- The Panthers are tops in the GMAC and 18th in Division II with seven turnovers gained, including four rumbles and three interceptions. The defense has posted 26 tackles for loss for 85 yards through their first three games.
- Dalan Cofer leads the defense with 23 total tackles, including three for loss, and a forced fumble.
- David Florence enters the week ranked first in the GMAC and in the top-15 nationally with 318 receiving yards and four touchdowns.
- Christian Arrambide has completed 58% of passes (48-83) and thrown for six touchdowns but also thrown six picks. The junior had a season-best 284 yards at Lindenwood with three scores.
- On the ground, Jatorian Dillard is tops on the team with 128 rushing yards, on 3.7 per carry.
- Former NFL wide receiver Craig Yeast is in his third season at the helm of the Panther program. As a player at Kentucky, he broke the SEC record for receptions and is UK's all-time leader with just under 2,900 yards.
