Baseball Heads to Southwest Baptist for Four Game Series

LIBERTY, Mo. - The William Jewell baseball team heads south to Bolivar this weekend for a four-game set with Southwest Baptist.

CARDINAL NOTES

Jewell enters the week at 17-10 and looking to get back on track after dropping five of their last six.
Cole Conner leads the Cardinals with a .438 average, which ranks 15^th in Division II and second in the GLVC. Alex Epp follows at .400 while Anthony Hansen, Cameron Fliege and Jake Wilcox are all hitting above .360.
Hansen leads the team with 10 home runs and 36 runs scored while he and Fleige have driven in 28 apiece.
On the mound, Drew Dant continues to pace the staff with a 1.75 ERA over 13 relief appearances.
Jake MacDonald posted the first complete game shutout of his career last weekend with a two-hit, four strikeout performance against Lindenwood. The senior boasts a 5-0 record in 37.1 innings, a 2.65 ERA and 39 strikeouts, all tops amongst Jewell starters.
Head coach Mike Stockton is in his 21^st season at the helm of the Jewell program in 2022. The second longest tenured coach in program history and won his 600^th career game earlier this season.

SBU has struggled out of the gates in 2022, sitting at 6-23 overall and 1-7 in the GLVC.
Rhys Cratty and Colby Sneed are the only players hitting above .300 hits season at .347 and .325, respectively. The former also leads the team with 34 hits, seven doubles, four home runs and 24 RBI.
Corbin Reese is 2-0 over 10 appearances and two starts with a 2.64 ERA and 19 strikeouts. The Bearcats have 11 different pitchers who have started a game and nine who have at least 10 strikeouts to their credit.
Chris Martin is in his 11^th season with the Bearcats and is the program's all-time wins leader with more than 200. He also played for SBU from 2002-2006.
