INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - The Great Lakes Valley Conference postseason awards for football have been announced with six players from William Jewell earning a combined seven honors.
Sean Mitchell and
Paul Geelen earned All-GLVC First Team honors while Geelen and
Keaundre McCullough picked up a Second Team selection. Meanwhile,
Deldrionn Amos,
Adam Callahan and
Peter Haynes also were listed on the Honorable Mention list.
Mitchell picks up his second career All-GLVC nod and first selection to the First Team as a defensive back. A redshirt sophomore, he led the Cardinals and the conference with 8.3 tackles per game and 83 total while grabbing three interceptions. He had a season best 12 tackles, one sack and one pick in a homecoming win over Upper Iowa. Geelen was selected to the All-GLVC First Team as a punter and Second Team as a kicker. The top punter in the league, he averaged 43.7 yards per punt, placing 11 punts inside the 20 yard line. As a kicker he was 8-for-9 on field goals, including 5-for-5 from 40 yards and beyond with a long of 48 yards.
McCullough was third in the conference in 2023 with an average of 73.1 rushing yards per game with a season long of 70 yards at Davenport. He gained 731 total net yards with five scores to lead the Cardinals.
Amos, who earned his second career All-GLVC award, was the top receiving target for Jewell, hauling in 43 catches for 585 yards and a team high six scores. For the season he averaged better than 58.5 yards per game. Callahan also picks up his second career postseason honor and was second on the team with 65 tackles, including 34 solo. He also added two forced fumbles and had a season high 11 tackles at Truman State. Haynes becomes the first long snapper of the NCAA era to earn All-GLVC honors and played a key role in the punting success of Geelen.
